This is your first chance to entice buyers. Focus your efforts on the front of your house to grab buyers’ attention.  You may need to do some or none of these ideas, and that’s where Prudential comes in.  We’ll guide you through this, and these are just some of the details we’ll look at and help you to determine what, if any, items you might need to focus on.
Stand in front of your house. What will potential buyers see as they arrive?
Here are some recommendations, but we’ll customize based on our assessment and insure you do just what you need to in order to get your home sold as quickly as possible:

  • Mow, weed, trim and water your lawn regularly
  • Paint or thoroughly wash your house exterior
  • Place a new welcome mat at the front door
  • Ensure your house address numbers are large enough to read
  • Wash windows so they’re transparent
  • Remove extra vehicles from the driveway
  • Repair damaged screens and glass and add check your hardware
  • Sweep the walkway and driveway frequently
  • Remove distracting lawn ornaments
  • Clean up after your pets daily
  • Repair fences or gates
  • Ensure your roof, siding, gutters and fascia are in good shape

Two key areas for buyers are the kitchen and bathrooms. Send positive messages through a clean kitchen and beautiful bathrooms. Here’s how:

  • Repair leaky faucets
  • Caulk sinks and tubs if needed
  • Remove rust stains
  • Fix sticky drawers
  • Repair missing grout and tiles
  • Scrub and polish all sinks and tubs
  • Place seldom used small appliances in cupboards
  • Wipe down insides of drawers and install dividers
  • Make sure mirrors and appliances shine
  • Inspect cabinets and un-clutter countertops
  • Deodorize garbage disposal, dishwasher and trash cans

    • Fold a quilt at the end of beds
    • Put scented paper or sachets in closets
    • Use lots of pillows in every bedroom
    • Add a few books, art and pottery to areas
    • Hang a picture in the laundry room
    • Wipe down the washer, dryer, furnace, water softener and other appliances
    • Put tools in bins in the garage or shop
    • Refresh patios by power-washing and give wood decks a fresh coat of stain
    • Place lawn furniture and small tables in conversational groupings outside
    • Hang miniature lights in trees and around umbrellas for a warm glow
